Cookies for Santa Blog Hop

Hello fellow Crafters,

Welcome to the Cookies for Santa Blog Hop! If you are coming from Alicia, then you are in the right spot. If you happen to come by my blog and would like to join us in this fun Blog Hop, please start at Lisa's Blog here. All of us are show casing a cookie recipe for all of you. My most favorite cookie of all times are Molasses Cookies, yum!!!! So I recruited some helpers, Jon and Jarett, to make a batch of these delicious treats.

1 cup butter
1cup sugar
1 cup molasses
2 eggs
2/3 cup of sour milk (1cup milk+ 1tlsp vinegar)
2tsp baking soda
1tsp ginger
1tsp cinnomon
5 cups flour (+/-)
Sugar for rolling is optional

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Cream butter, sugar, molasses and eggs until well combined. Add sour milk, soda and spices. Gradually add flour one cup at a time. Mix until stiff dough forms. After mixing chill in refrigerator for 1-2 hours or even overnight. Then either roll out the dough for cut out cookies, or drop by spoonfuls onto cookie sheet. If you like a bit of sugar around the cookies, then take your spoonfuls roll them into a ball then into a container with sugar.  Bake each batch for 12-15 minutes. I like my cookies chewy so I usually have them in about 13 minutes.

Here are some pictures of my helpers and their hard work getting these cookies ready. We rolled the cookies in red and green sugar before baking. They were a big hit and gone in a few days. I hope you will give them a try.

And now it is time to check out the next recipe with Denise. In case you might get lost here is the full list and order of out hop:

I had so much fun baking the cookies with my boys. I treasure the times that I can spent with them in the kitchen and get them involved. They do seem to like it as well. The little one, Jarett, likes the testing and licking of the beaters the best. The bigger one, Jon, just enjoys the part of making the dough. He is not a big sweet eater. We wish all of you lots of fun baking up some new cookie recipes for Santa.
Until soon,
Nadja, Jon and Jarett
